Carousel Cake Dummies
A carousel is the shape bakers ask about most and attempt least. The roof has to carry its own weight, stay level and hold a clean line while it is covered, and real cake will not do that. These kits give you the structure in dense white EPS foam, cut in Florida and ready to decorate.
Every kit is the same idea in a different roofline: a canopy, a centre column and a base, cut to match each other. The Classic Carousel is the traditional smooth dome. The Four-Panel Round and Six-Sided Hexagon add ridges that survive decorating and photograph with depth. The Four-Sided Square reads as a big top rather than a merry-go-round. The Royal Spire is the tall four-piece version with a pointed faceted canopy and a stepped base.
Sizes and how to pick one
Each kit comes in 6, 8 and 10 inch canopies. Choose a canopy one to two inches smaller than the tier it will sit on, so a ring of cake stays visible around the base. A 6 inch canopy sits edge to edge on a 6 inch cake with no margin at all and looks better on a 7 or 8 inch tier.
Why our foam costs more than the cheap stuff
A carousel canopy is all edges: ridges, facets, skirt corners and, on the Royal Spire, a point with almost no material behind it. Low-density polystyrene with visible beads crumbles at exactly those places, first during cutting and again during handling, and every pit shows through fondant. We cut dense, fine-cell EPS with a closed surface, so the detail you paid for is still there when the cake is on the table.
What is not included
The kits arrive as undecorated white foam. Cake, decorations, horses, poles and adhesives are not included, and the foam is not edible, so use a food-safe barrier wherever it meets an edible cake.
