An 8 inch round foam cake dummy, 8 inches tall — as tall as it is wide. That square profile is the shape decorators reach for when they want a modern, architectural cake rather than a traditional shallow tier.
A double barrel cake is two tiers stacked with no separator, covered as one piece so it reads as a single very tall tier. Built from real cake it is heavy, unstable and expensive. Built from one solid foam block it is none of those things, and the silhouette is identical.
Cut from dense, fine-cell EPS in our own workshop in Florida. The taller the tier, the more a bad surface shows — at 8 inches you have a lot of visible wall, and low-density foam telegraphs its bead texture across all of it. Ours has a closed surface, so fondant lies flat top to bottom.
